Family Visit Visa
A family visit visa is required for foreigners who wish to visit their family members or relatives living in Japan. This includes parents, spouses, children, and siblings of foreign nationals residing in Japan. For example, the visa may be needed when a family wants to spend holidays together in Japan or tour cultural and tourist attractions. In particular, for families with children, the visa may be sought for assistance with childbirth or childcare. The maximum duration of stay allowed under this visa is 15 days, 30 days, or up to 90 days.
Typically, the family visit visa is applied for at the nearest Japanese embassy or consulate in the applicant’s home country. In some countries and regions, it may be possible to submit a visa application online. After submitting the required documents, some countries may also require an interview.
Documents needed for the application include proof of familial relationship (such as birth certificates or marriage certificates) as well as proof that the inviter in Japan is financially capable of supporting the applicant (for example, tax certificates or income certificates).
For Vietnamese nationals seeking a family visit visa, we offer the special advantage of providing local support in Vietnam, allowing the applicant and their family to submit and receive the visa without ever having to visit the Japanese embassy or consulate.
